The Director General of the Kano State Urban Beautification and Landscaping Agency (KASUBA) Arc. AMINA Ahmed Ibrahim* today received the Director General of the newly established Kano State Signages and Advertisement Agency (KASA) Dr Kabiru Dakata at the KASUBA headquarters in Bompoi Nassarawa GRA, Kano.
This significant visit marks a new chapter of inter-Agency cooperation in the area of billboard, signage, and outdoor advertisement regulation across Kano State.
Before the establishment of the Kano State Signages and Advertisement Agency (KASA), the responsibility for managing, regulating, and monitoring billboard installations, signage placements, and advertisement structures across the State was handled solely by KASUBA. The Agency effectively carried out these duties as part of its mandate to ensure a clean, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing urban environment.
However, in line with government reforms aimed at promoting specialization, improved service delivery, and enhanced regulatory oversight, a new dedicated agency—KASA—was created and officially assigned the responsibilities related to signages and advertisements.
Following this transition, the Director General KASUBA Arc. AMINA Ahmed Ibrahim formally handed over all signage and advertisement regulatory functions to KASA. Today’s visit provided an opportunity for the two Director Generals to:
* Review the transition process.
* Strengthen operational ties between the two Agencies.
* Discuss areas of continued cooperation, especially where billboard and beautification responsibilities intersect.
Align strategies for enforcing compliance, eliminating illegal structures, and supporting the government’s urban renewal vision.
The Director General of KASUBA commended the creation of the new Agency and reaffirmed his agency’s full support and willingness to work in partnership with KASA, ensuring a smooth and effective implementation of responsibilities.
In his remarks, the Director General of KASA Dr Kabiru Dakata appreciated the leadership and professionalism displayed by KASUBA in managing signage responsibilities before the creation of the new Agency. He further emphasized the need for synergy, information sharing, and coordinated field operations moving forward.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from both Agencies to continue working hand-in-hand in support of the broader vision of His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, towards achieving a more organized, beautiful, and modern urban Kano.
